<![CDATA[Recreation Wishlist]]>https://dutchmandownspool.com/news/recreation-wishlist/6a09ea90ec619d000199ef5dSun, 17 May 2026 11:24:00 GMTI have also recently created a wishlist of recreation and “nice-to-have” items for the pool area, and I wanted to provide a little additional context.

First and most importantly, participation in the wishlist is completely optional. There is absolutely no expectation or requirement for members to contribute or purchase anything. The wishlist was simply created as an opportunity for anyone who may wish to help enhance the pool area beyond what the regular operating budget can support.

Pool Recreation and Updates Wishlist

View On Amazon

While members already pay annual pool fees, those fees primarily go toward the essential costs of operating the pool safely and responsibly each season, including:

  • Pool management and staffing
  • Lifeguards
  • Chemicals and water treatment
  • Electricity and utilities
  • Maintenance and repairs
  • Cleaning, inspections, and insurance

These operational expenses account for the majority of the budget and cover the necessary — though less visible — parts of keeping the pool open and functioning.

At the same time, some recreational equipment, furniture, and other pool items are aging and need replacement over time. The wishlist includes items that would help refresh and improve the pool environment for everyone, but that fall outside the core operational budget this year.

Again, this is simply an optional way for members who are interested to contribute toward enhancements or replacement items if they choose. We appreciate everyone’s continued support of the pool and the community, regardless of participation.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about any upcoming events and I hope to see you at the pool very soon!Lindsey

We are SO excited the season is just a few weeks away! It has been a COLD winter and a HOT spring so we are excited for the SUMMER (even though it already feels like it outside)!!!!

I feel like a broken record because I think this is the sixth year I have written this. But, we had another incredible season last year.....which means we had to move up divisions. We are in DIVISION TWO! I know....insanity! Dutchman really is the Fastest Four Lanes in Wake County. We anticipate some great match-ups with some teams we swam last year and a few from the year before. It's going to be an AWESOME season!

First, we have some amazing coaches returning for our 2026 season! Matt Robinson is returning as our Head Coach! Ally Gay will return as a Senior Assistant Coach. Eva Koehler is back as an Assistant this year as well.

Our slate of volunteer coaches features some familiar faces! Colin Briggs, Grace Ann Holliday, Addie Sherrill, and Avery White are back as second year volunteers. Noah Bullis, Quentin Enders, and Max Key are joining as first year volunteer coaches. We are excited to see how they help contribute to the team this year!

Next, 6 and under children will still have to pass an independent swimming test to be allowed on the team. Your swimmer must be able to swim the 15 yards unassisted. That means they can dog paddle, elementary backstroke, whatever they need to do to get to those 15 yards with no help. Our coaches will be in the water with them so that part will not go away. We introduced this as a requirement two seasons ago, and it was a success. If your child cannot do 15 yards unassisted, feel free to reach out to one of our coaches for lessons. Same for 7-10 year olds (25 yards unassisted) and 11 and up (50 yards unassisted) When they are able to meet that goal, we will be happy to add them to our team at a prorated price!

😊

We are so lucky to welcome back our Swim Team Board Members! Missy Enders is returning as the Volunteer Coordinator! YAY!!! Matt Enders is going to be tackling Concessions. If you took advantage of the BBQ sandwiches last year, you know he is going to be a great addition. Kyle Holliday is working tirelessly on sponsorships and we have some great partnerships in the works!

Lindsey Singletary is the most incredible Dutchman Downs Pool President! She did so much last year to improve our pool and keeps getting better and better!

We still have our Dutchman Downs Swim Outlet Page! Our team gets 5% back on every purchase if you are logged in under our page! We have sweatshirts, t-shirts (not 2026 team shirts), tank tops, basic gear and more on that page! Info for our team suit is on the "Team Store" tab of the Swimtopia site! It will be on the SwimOutlet site as well once I can get my act together! The suit is called "Speedo Linear Lava" and it is the blue/green option!

Finally, the sick rules still apply. Regardless of illness, please do not bring your swimmers to practice if they are sick. It is common sense, but it is also helpful in keeping the rest of the team healthy.

Mark your calendars! Here is the dual meet schedule and other important dates:

  • May 17th: Meet the Coaches at the Pool from 6-7pm
  • May 18th: First practice (See website for schedule until traditional calendar schools end)
  • May 31st: Time Trials at the Pool (Start time TBD)
  • June 9: WoodCreek at Dutchman Downs
  • June 15: First day of morning and afternoon practices
  • June 16: Dutchman Downs at Abbington
  • June 23: Dutchman Downs at Apex
  • June 30: Preston Village at Dutchman Downs
  • July 7: Dutchman Downs at Shepherd's Vineyard
  • July 11: Cary City Meet at Scottish Hills
  • July 14: Medfield at Dutchman Downs
  • July 15: End of Season Banquet (Time TBD)

The meet schedule is posted on our website. We are a smaller pool, and we had around 100 swimmers last year. We anticipate that many or more this year! We are offering both morning and evening practices again (once traditional calendar school is out). That schedule will be available soon! If you can come in the mornings, please do. It will help alleviate overcrowding in our evening practices!

Registration is LIVE here! If you are a returning swim team member, please use your login from last year. It has stored all your previous info to make registration easier. If you don’t remember, use the “forgot password” feature.

If you have ANY questions, feel free to reach out! :)

We are so looking forward to an incredible season for our Dutchman Downs Dolphins!
